Breakfast Bandits Mission

Inspiring people to conquer challenges related to independence through a nationwide network of volunteer chapters working in partnership with physical, occupational, and speech therapists by providing Amtrak adaptive trikes, scholarships for therapists and many forms of community service.

Who Are AMBUCS -Breakfast Bandits?

AMBUCS is a national organization: https://ambucs.org with local chapters. Our mission is to provide mobility access to create independence.

Breakfast Bandits is a chapter of AMBUCS in Salina, Kansas. Our chapter, which is made up of more than 75 members meets most every Friday at 6:30am at the Salina VFW, 1108 W Crawford St, Salina, KS 67401. You are welcome to check us out any time.

AMBUCS began life as American Business Clubs, a membership organization dedicated to helping people with disabilities. As our model changed to a more standard 501c3 charitable organization, that name no longer described us. So, in 1961, we shortened it to AMBUCS (pronounced AM-BUCKS).

What Does Breakfast Bandits Do?

Amtrykes

Adaptive tricycles, Amtrykes, are provided to local and regional recipients. Each Amtryke is built specifically for the needs of the child or adult. AMBUCS works with local physical therapists to determine the Amtryke and the options that will enhance the physical abilities of the recipient.

Assistance

AMBUCS provides funding for playgrounds with mobility access, mobility access for individuals, Amtrykes and ramps. Request Assistance by completing a form and we will get back with you.

Gathering

Breakfast Bandits typically meets every Friday morning at 6:30am at the Salina VFW, 1108 W Crawford St, Salina, KS 67401. We have a short business meeting, followed by an educational program. We also have a variety of social events and activities throughout the year.

Golf Tournament

Our annual golf tournament is one of our primary fundraisers. Be sure to bring your team out to our golf tournament which is usually held in May.

Other Donations

We are also looking for other donations and fundraising opportunities to help with our missions with Ramps, Amtrykes and Scholarships. If you are interested, please join us at our Friday morning meeting.
